Pathways to Resilience
Partnering with Churches and Youth Workers to Nurture Hope, Healing, and Opportunity for Marginalised Children and Justice-Involved Youth
The Vision
Our Pathways to Resilience vision is to see communities united in hope, building cross-cultural partnerships that meet the holistic needs of marginalised children, young people, and their families. We seek to collaborate with churches, organisations, and local leaders to create pathways of support, mentoring, and opportunity—restoring dignity, fostering resilience, and leaving a lasting impact for generations to come.
What We Do through Breakaway Outreach UK Partnerships
Building on 30+ years of gospel ministry among children in hard places, Breakaway Outreach UK equips churches and youth workers in the UK to walk with justice-involved youth and vulnerable children through:
- Chaplaincy & Faith-Based Support – partnering with chaplaincy teams in Young Offender Institutions (YOIs), Secure Training Centres, and Secure Children’s Homes.
- Mentoring & Aftercare – equipping mentors to walk alongside justice-involved youth, foster children, and children affected by incarceration with consistent guidance and relational support.
- Sports & Creative Outreach – using sport, recreation, and the arts as bridges to engagement, trust-building, and life skills development (sport is widely valued in UK youth justice as a tool for engagement, teamwork, and resilience).
- Faith & Discipleship Resources – providing contextualised curriculum tailored for young people on the margins, integrating biblical teaching with practical themes such as forgiveness, reconciliation, resilience, and hope.
- Training & Capacity Building – resourcing churches, youth workers, and volunteers with trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, sports outreach models, mentoring skills, and sustainable engagement strategies.
- Family & Community Support – engaging families of justice-involved or vulnerable young people with encouragement, resources, and practical pathways to resilience.
- Cross-Cultural Partnerships – connecting UK churches with American partners to strengthen ministry through shared learning, service teams, and long-term collaboration.

“Hope Again” Christmas Outreach
Christmas can be a joyful season, but for many young people it is also a time of struggle and loneliness. Breakaway Outreach serves children and young people who face a range of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) — including parental incarceration, domestic violence, trauma, homelessness, economic hardship, and more.
Through our Hope Again Christmas Outreach, we want to remind these children that they are seen, valued, and loved. Christmas provides a special opportunity to share the love of Christ with those growing up in difficult circumstances.
This year, we’re inviting churches, schools, and community groups across the UK to pack shoebox gifts filled with practical items, treats, and small presents for children in hard places. Together, we can bring the true spirit of Christmas — hope, joy, and love — to some of the most vulnerable in our communities.
